At Coastline Dance Academy, students will learn respect for their peers, respect for their teachers, and most importantly: respect for themselves. Through the discipline of dance we teach students to take turns, encourage their peers, be proud of themselves, and how to accept and apply feedback. Our goal is to give students the tools to be more than just a good dancer; we want them to be exceptional human beings who take on the world with confidence.

Teaching For Dance,
Teaching for Life.

We offer a variety of styles to keep your child educated & well-versed.

Coastline Dance Academy takes pride in offering different levels within each genre of dance. Levels will primarily be based on age, but in certain cases skill level will be a factor for consideration. Placement will be at the director’s discretion. We want all of our dancers to feel confident in their placement, but also want to challenge them and ensure they are learning at an appropriate pace.

Get To Know Our Staff

To us, dance is not just about becoming a strong technician or learning a few fun moves. There is so much more to our world of expertise. As instructors, we teach tactics that dancers can utilize in their everyday lives.

Samantha Thompson Owner

Samantha Thompson has been teaching for 13 years and choreographing for competitive dance for 9. Her love lies with creating a positive dance culture and learning atmosphere for both students and teachers. To Sam, dance is not just about pointing your feet or receiving high scores- it’s all about building resilience, confidence, and setting your passion on fire on and off the stage while becoming the best version of yourself you can be.

Samantha received her BFA in Jazz Dance Performance from the University of the Arts in 2013. She studied under world renowned mentors and choreographers to mold her into the person and teacher she is now. Excited to spread her joy of dance, Samantha opened Coastline in 2022 in hopes to be a space her students and staff can flourish in.

Charlene Baker, originating from South Jersey, has been dancing since the age of 3 and has fallen in love with it ever since. She graduated from the Dance Academy at Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) in Mays Landing, New Jersey, and furthered her dance career at Stockton University, earning her Bachelor of Performing Arts degree in Studio Operations. Charlene studied under professional dance professors and choreographers Caitlin Pittenger, Beau Hancock, Chandra Moss-Thorne, and many more. Upon graduating, Charlene started her own summer master classes at Director Inc Creative Arts Center in the Hamilton Mall, teaching Hip Hop and Contemporary. She turned this into a nonprofit dance organization to reach young and talented artists who are unable to join dance programs and to encourage youth to take risks in new opportunities, as she once did.
